Hedges have been used for centuries when early farmers realised that they were effective at keeping his domestic animals from straying. The word Hedge is derived from the English word Hecg - meaning boundary or enclosure. Orgional hedges were created by digging a ditch and piling the soil on top of the bank and did not include planting with shrubs and trees. Later this was found to improve the effectiveness of the hedge and became common practice. We now know the common hedge as a soil bank planted with vedgitation.
TLS Plant has been building hedges for many years. Being from a farming background TLS Plant understands the importance of hedge construction and how this initial construction improves the effectiveness of the hedge in the future. We take pride in our hedging and we believe hedges should be sculptured with a even face, square edge and level turfed top. Some examples of our hedging is shown below;
